My first beats

Well, here are the first beats that I have ever made:

Beat 1
Beat 2

It's a little different from the beats that you guys make...I don't really focus on attacking the snare.

Im lovin them joints number 2 is a BaNgeR, just a lil clip in between every 4 bars
 
Beat 1 was dope. the intro scratching was a little loud but the beat sounds real nice. 1 thing, i'd take out that click every 4 bars. or substitute it with a different sound.
 
I agree with BB on beat 1 (scratching too loud). Old school but easily flippable. Could add more to it.

Beat 2 is good but I would switch that sound with just a little bit of an echoed clap.
 
Thanks y'all...I fixed some of the things you guys mentioned, like the clipping in the second song and the horribly loud scratching, check the first post.

i'm feelin them beats especially since they are your first 2 beats ever created................wut equipment do u use/software?
 
Yeah...the first two that I actually tried on. I used Acid Pro 6.0 for software, and I use samples I downloaded, along with samples that I make from other songs. Like the violin, for example, I took from "Forbidden Colors" by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

I haven't had a chance to actually listen to the songs, due to my browser doesn't like soundclick today. But, reading this little paragraph that you just posted above, made me want to jump in and say a few things. Take it whatever way you want, but I'm only giving it as constructive criticism.

First things first. Beat production is an art form, it's not something you can just slap together and expect people to dig it. It takes time, patience, love, energy, inspiration, and sometimes money, to get the right stuff.

Samples from other songs, that are already big hits in the classical world, or the country world, a HUGE no-no. I learned that from the first time I made a "hit". I took a sample from an older song, that had a tight piano loop, tied it to some kicks snares claps and a synth, was a tight beat. Guess where it's at now? It's in the garbage. Because _I_ didn't create it. Someone else did, I just added a couple things.

A masterpiece isn't a masterpiece unless it's created from the ground up. If you really enjoy making beats and really want to get into it, make your own loops, make your own melodies, tune your own kicks, and snares and claps, make your _OWN_ stuff. Sure, samples for kicks, and snares, and that type, is fine, because you can fine tune them to be your own, and fit into your song. Sometimse they are just perfect. But, I'm letting you know right now, from personal experience, slapping samples from other songs, to make your own song, is not one way to get respect anywhere. You will never become the next Dr. Dre, by taking other peoples ideas and making them your own.

Just a piece of advice I decided i'd throw in here, disregard it if you must, but I know when I threw up a beat up here about a year ago, under a different alias, and it was sampled, I got flamed. Take it from me now, so you don't get flamed later. :D

Take care, keep up with the good work, comin' from Noddy's comment and Billy, and the others. I'm sure the beats are good as good can be.

Hope this helps, because now I have a cramp in my wrist. God damn carpal tunnel at 17. FFS.

I didn't take a bunch of loops and pieced them together...the ONLY loop that I took was the violin from another song. I did the snares, kicks, and other shit myself, and I took my own time to put everything in the right place. I can tell you right now that pretty much every producer, including Dre, has sampled other songs. It happens. Even 2pac has basslines from some Stevie Wonder songs...

I'm not saying that EVERY producer samples songs, but saying that it's bad...wow.

Like I said, I didn't hear the songs themselves, I just figured since it was your first beats and you said you sampled, it's usually a bad thing. Although, I do understand, Yes, Dre, and others have sampled before. But what I meant was melody wise.

Either way, keep up the good work.
