when my computer turns on, the audiodock lights up. but when patchmix dsp loads it says more emu hardware is needed,it shows the pci card, but does not show the audiodock as being hooked up even though the lights are glowing on the audiodock.

I have mics plugged in and speakers...I am clueless. I plugged the power cable into the back on my floppy drive, which is also linked to the power for the hardrive, its a splittler. I am not very computer literate, but that was the only plug that the +12 volt power cable from the emu 1010 board would fit into...like I wrote, there is power on the emu dock, but I am unsure what it looks like when functioning properly. everylight comes on initially for a few seconds then, only the yellow light to the right is on (44 lit up). The dsp only shows the green light lit up for the 1010 card, but when I look at the I/O's it shows a few of the inpouts for the audiodock all with a red (!)...I am lost.

anyone got any clues or have you had this happen? I would love to get this working. My 1212 card worked perfect,I found the 1820 setup and got it used for trading in an old cab and a little loot, I am frustrated. I have download all the current drivers etc., so what next?

My 1820m did that the first time I installed it. When I installed it I smelled something burning. I thought I burned it. But it turned out it was my power supply. But my pc still worked it showed the audio dock was not connected. I unplugged some fans, and one of the DVD drives and a hard drive. And it seemed to work correctly. I also noticed when I pull the cat5 cord the PSU fan would slow down then when I plug it in it would speed up. So I think im having power issues. I’m not saying this is your problem but I think my problem was my power supply could not handle the load. Try unplugging some stuff just to see if your lacking power. Start with unplugging your disk drives(not hard drives), any extra fans, and see if it comes up.

that didn't work

i only unplugged the cd drive, I'll have a friend look at it. like I said the unit lights up, then a few seconds later only the yellow light is on. is that what the unit looks like when its on normally, or are all thelights lit up?

Hi,

i have the same problem. After startup i get that message most of the times. Not always. In the patchmix are all the 1820 channels red untill i reload a session. Then is everything back to normal.

1820 probs

I've had the EMU stuff......in fact use the 1212 set-up with my motu stuff with no probs. Try turning on the breakout box after you boot your computer, turn off then on. Then try turning breakout box before you boot, then off then on. See any difference? I had the 1616 for my laptop, and it would only recognize the breakout box if I turned it on after the computer was on.....before I turned on the recording software. I would get the "lack of" message once in a while, but the software would recognize everything anyway. Weird glitch!! hope this helps. Mike
