my 2nd post! "Get Me Out" - my attempt at distorted guitar

hey all,

this is my second mp3 post here. my first was a while ago, and now that i listen to it, i'm like "whoah that was bad". i'll probably say the same about this one in time.

the music is pretty unoriginal modern-soundish rock. i tried recording my Peavey 10w solid state amp for this song. i think it turned out alright for the quality. i like the lyrics.

honest opinions and constructive critcism welcomed!

drums are dull and way back in the mix.....
crunch guit is too too up front...the arpeggiatic bits are too loud man...the acoustic guit is buried too....would like a cleaner tone on the bass as well....


not so bad....good effort man...keep at it..

Nice song. WAY too treble-y. Seriously. I hear almost nothing but harsh high-end sound stabbing my inner ear. The vocals need some serious work, dude. No offense. Good voice, but majorly out of tune in numerous places. Add a bit of verb or delay -- and definitely some compression -- and try not to hold back. It sounds like you (or the singer) is afraid to let go, which is SO common on this site. Of all the instruments in a song, it's the voice that everyone's afraid to showcase (me included). You really need the compression, too, to smooth out the too-loud parts. Try just a bit harder to hear the notes you're singing. Out-of-tune vocals are one of the most noticeable aspects of a song, so spend the most time on them (he says, hypocritically).

Now for the good stuff. I LOVE that guitar riff on the verses. How the hell did you do that?! It sounds half backward, but not. That's one of the most original guitar parts I've heard in years! In one out of 20 songs on this site that I listen to do I hear something that I say, "Man, I wish I'd written that." Your guitar riff is one of them. Nice, nice job on that. This has the makings of a kick-ass song that basically takes radio pop and makes it GOOD! It just needs some vocal polishing, some compression, a brighter snare (forgot to mention that; despite the treble-y-ness of the song, the snare is kind of flat) and some noise reduction.

I would LOVE to hear this song with a few relatively minor changes. This has my vote for the song with the most unrealized potential tonight.

Geezer has my vote for most amazing song overall tonight.

And, let's see... that one song by Jim Soloway gets my vote for the song that took me most outside my comfort zone and still managed to enrapture me.

But I digress...

Thanks for posting. It's a really good song that needs slight polishing. Enjoyed it a lot.

oy. too much treble eh? doh. i'll need to back off some on the vocals i think. i kinda cranked it kinda high.

dang. i didn't know i was out of tune that much. i was on tune for the chorus though right? at least some of it?...must work on that

when you say the drums are "way back" , do you mean make them louder?

yeah the acoustic really sucks...

do you mean the arpeggiatic stuff in the chorus, verse, or both?
