MXL603s or 993???Hard to choose.

Hi guys, I'm gonna buy a pair of condenser mics for picking acoustic guitar. I thought the MXL is good for me. Good price and quality, but the thing is i don't know which one i need, 603s or 993? I know they're all good at acoustic picking,but i didn't ever use any one of them. so please give me some experience-any different character between them on performance? what's your advice? thank you guys!!!!!!!

603's are the ones that ol' harvey would reccomend if he were still frequenting this place, i believe.

Unfortunately you won't find many reviews of the 993 because it is only sold through MF. I wouldn't be scared to give them a try though. the specs look good with the possible exception of a definite presence rise on the response graph. I would most likely use them in a spaced pair rather than a coincident pair for stereo micing though since their response patter is so wide.

I know the 603s are good--as long as they're still being made with the same parts.

I think it would come down to how important the added features are to you; pad, rolloff, etc. If you don't need the extras, then just go for the 603.
