I'm honestly curious though-- what is the comical aspect of this endeavor? It seems reasonably well intentioned, though I'm sure there is a commerical/business enterprise aspect to it.
It didn't seem like there was much, if any, effort made to ensure any level of consistency between takes ... or that the 'between take' variables were accounted for. Not to mention that Dan Richards is just kind of a weenie, who I'm sure has a hard enough time tying his shoes properly.
Didn't get the sense that the talent were taking it very seriously, and that's pretty important if you want this thing to work. After listening enough times, do you even get the feeling that all of the parties involved were even sober throughout the entire session?

I get the feeling that what started out as a serious endeavor kind of "got away" from them as it went on, if you catch my drift.
If you want to hear some valuable comparisons, I would spring for the 3D audio thingies. And I realize I sound like a broken record on this, but Harvey kinda' nailed it:
Buy more than one mic at a time, and buy used. Horse around with them for a week or two, and sell the one you like less. If you avsolutely HAVE to have a new one ... then sell both of them, and buy a new version of the one you liked better of the two.
If you're not a complete dolt, you shouldn't lose any money going this route. Don't use the excuse that you can't afford to buy more than one mic at a time. If that is a legitimate excuse ... then I'm afraid you've got much bigger issues going on in your life to concerning yourself with microphones and recording or even wasting your time on this board. I also ain't buyin' the excuse that Craigslist and/or ebay are too much of a hassle, because anyone with more than a 6th grade education
should be able to wrap their head around the concept ... or should at least have access to a 6th grader who could help them with it.
