I bought a MXL USB 006, and I'm using it with a laptop running Vista.

When the mike is plugged into a USB port, the audio is muted. I can't hear myself through the headphones (plugged into the headphone jack of the laptop).

When I'm done recording, I can't hear what I've recorded unless I unplug the mike from the USB port.

Surely I'm missing something?

Thanks,

hello,

I had the same problem. In the manual it tells you how to set up the mic. And in figure#6 how your audio Properties should be set up. I don't know what it is called on vista. But if you find control panel you should be able to find some audio settings. Like sound&audio devices or something to the effect.

Then make sure in your audio stuff in "sound playback" isn't set the same as your "sound recording" is set. So that your not trying to play sound through the mic. Or record through the speakers on your compy.

Once your done doing that. Your computer wont be fighting over each others places. Hope this helps and sorry if I explaind any thing weird; I just ate some brownies.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm this is common. sometimes USB interfaces or mics like to change all settings as you plug them in, so im willing to bet at the moment your computer is trying to play music through your mic as well as recording. my interface did this.

audio>properties>playback devices>then your monitors
