You don't that shit you posted is a decent sounding mix do you?
Do you understand basic English syntax?

BTW, I don't pretend to be the world's leading expert on mics. I don't impugn the reputations of dead men. I don't assert that nearly all Chinese mics are utter crap. In other words, I'm not the one with anything to prove, you are. And you haven't proven anything. You're all talk (and incoherent talk at that).

You know, DJL, if you're going to be a son of a bitch, it helps if you're a talented son of a bitch. Here's your chance, prove to us that you are. Post some mixes.

I don't have anything to prove... my shit stinks and so do you. Hang-on, I'm searching for the posts where you talk about the B1 and B3. I think it's important that it's clear to everyone how well you hear.

Seriously, guys. It's mics. You point them at things that make sound . . . which is either recorded or amplified through some sort of loud speaker.

Meanwhile we've got soldiers dying, holy wars in the middle east, children starving, etc. etc.

Have fun. I never said that those mics sounded identical. Only that they sounded similar.

Please die.

Hang-on, I'm still searching for the thread where you said the B1 was the just the cardioid verson of the B3 and that the B1 and B3 sound the same to you. The search fuction is running slow and I have to weed through all you crap post to find... but, I'll find it.

C'mon, DJ. There really is more to life. Go do some things you enjoy - recording is apparently not one of them.:)

I may have said that the B3 was billed as the multipattern version of the B1, but I didn't own both mics at the time. Now that I do I know there is a subtle difference in sound between the two.

I never said they sounded identical. In fact, I said several times that the B1 had the reputation of sounding better than the B3. Therefore, if I can recommend the B3 on a source, I can definitely recommend the B1 because it sounds similar, but better. Now that I own both, I know this is true. I've said this several times, but you just want to be able to character assasinate anyone who disagrees with you and/or calls you on your bullshit.

That's just the kind of person you are.

I don't even own a B1; I have a B3, which is basically a multipattern B1.

Now, this is funny............ lol.

I told you before, I have a B3, which is a B1 with extra patterns. Why can't I suggest a B1 for a budget conscious home recordist without it being funny?

First..... how do you know if the B1 and B3 sound the same when the B3 is in the cardioid pattern when you don't even own a B1?

Second..... the B1 and B3 don't sound the same.

Third....... I think it's funny that your recommending a mic that you've neither heard or own.

Note: cominginsecond never replied to the question.

the B3 is NOT just a B1 with extra patterns

The differences between the B1 and the B3, from what I understand, are very, very subtle, with the B3 being a little less nice to most ears. Therefore, if the B3 is a good vocal mic, the B1 can only be better... if you can notice the difference at all.

NOTE: and there is much more… lol.

I'm headed out the door to do that right now... but, I'll be back and you'll still be here. :)

Note how I never said that they sounded identical, and that what I stated two posts ago is exactly what I stated in these posts that you must have spent hours digging up. In addition, when I said that the B3 was a B1 with extra patterns, I was going off of what other people on this board had said. I did not own both mics at that time. The worst you could say about me is that I was too trusting, not that I have a bad ear. Now that I own both I realize that that characterization was exaggerated.

In addition, you seem to think that I'm Hitler for recommending a mic that I don't personally own. Nearly everyone on this board does that, but you only criticize me. If you hate me irrationally, why don't you just come out and say it?

You're trying to impugn my reputation on this board based on a few posts in which I (1) took someone's word that the B3 was a multipattern B1, and (2) recommended a mic though I hadn't heard or used it, but owned a mic in the same series.

What does either of those things have to do with my "ears?" That's what your supposedly going off on me about, and why I'm supposedly unfit to dish out advice. I'd say irrational hatred for a particular brand name makes one a lot more unfit to give out advice than recommending a mic that is very similar to one that you own.

Just admit it, you are easily prone to irrational hatred. You did it with Alan Hyatt and you're doing it with me. Like I, and dozens of others, have said before, you're in serious need of psychological counseling.

I bought the Oktakva 012

So sorry for starting all of this

Hey thanks Gidge for the comparison.

Don't worry about it... you didn't start it, cominginsecond and I go at it all the time.

Have fun with your new mic. :)
