Hey Harvey, did you get to try the MXL 600 also? Seems to be the same mic aside from a 3 micron diaphragm and twice the price. Does this result in a more detailed sound? What are the pros and cons of a thinner diaphragm? I think the beta 57 went from 6 to 3, and it seems more detailed to me. I notice most mics use a 6 micron.
