I'm sort of picky when it comes to used mic's so would expect to pay about
the following for used prices in excellent+ condition;

EV 635a $70
EV RE15 $100-130 (just paid $150 for one 9 out of 10 cosmetically BTW)
M88 $200-220

Chris

P.S. Greg have you A/B'd ALL of the SP line vs. ADK?
My favorite for voice is the T3 within the Studio Projects mics.
Haven't tried any ADK's yet so far.

How does anything made in China get on a "must have" list, anyway???

Unless you REALLY NEED chopsticks................

CAD M9 Tube mic. It fits your budget. It's a great choice.
CAD is building some excellent mics. The VSM and VX2 are also quite special at their price points. Good tube stuff.

I'd go for a VSM over an NTK anyday. The VSM is much more natural (NTK is kind of bright which works well on some things...not as all purpose though).

hello. i'm bulking up my home studio for the summer, i need some new toys to keep things fresh. i'm looking for some distinct mics with definite personality to add to my mic closet. right now i have three sm57s, two mxl 603s, two mxl v67s, a shure beta 52a, and a couple of junkers. i'd like to add a mic or two (in the sub-$400 range) that will bring something new into my studio. maybe something really killer for acoustic guitars, or guitar amps. what mic do you think is a "must have" or a "must try?"

thanks,
jon.
Hi Jon, every studio should have at least one Sennheiser MD421... the MD421 is "must have" mic.
