I flat out hate Musiciansfriend and especially an accountant there named Everett Reed.

Musiciansfriend screws up almost every order that has more that one item in it. One time I ordered a guitar stand among several other items (picks, cables, etc), and they shipped it with no feet. What a bunch of geniuses.

Another time I ordered two guitars so that I could choose the one that looked better and sell off the other. They only sent me one and they verified this after I called to complain. Did they think they could get away with it if I didn't call?

Finally, very recently, I saw an awesome deal on Ibanez guitars, and ordered three to choose the best, and they cancelled all my orders and said I could only pay using wire transfer with Western Union, which costs $68 per $1000 transferred. They said the reason is because I ordered too much stuff from them. The order only totalled to $1800. What happens when someone orders a $4000 guitar?

Could this be considered discrimination and do any legal issues arise here? I suppose there is the law that states that businesses can choose to serve or not serve certain people, but these guys are just huge bastards.

discrimination? based on what? they just sound like an inept business to me

I'd say, judging by the amount of gear that you buy from them your best course of action is to take your business somewhere else. Try American Musical Supply or something.

I found the best route to go is your local retailer.

My band had some issues once with musiciansFriend equipment, and shortly realized, that was the worst decision ever made.

If you get stuck in an area with low population (like mine), your options for warranty work are very limited.
So then you gotta send shit back and forth, paying for all the shipping fees, and weeks of waiting. I buy very little of anything on-line anymore.
Support your local businesses! It's good for your community, and nothing beats being able to talk to an actual PERSON... face to face. =)

I've had good luck with them (they took back a faulty Tascam mixer after the deadline and credited my shipping costs), but they deal in volume - and don't have particularly knowledgeable people manning the phones at minimum wage. Try 8th street (they screwed up an order of mine and made it right), but for the basics, try these guys and ask them to match MF prices for the lines they carry. You'll find they all work with "minimum advertised prices" which is salespeak for street price, more or less.

Always had good luck with MF...but I will never buy a guitar from them. I don't buy guitars en masse and my guitars are...er...well like mistresses to me. So I ain't gonna buy one untill I cares..er play it for a while, ya know gotta bond and stuff. I've also found that exact same models of a guitar will sound differently so I wanna play before I buy and if I don't like it I just wanna hang it up on the wall and go to the next one.

Strings, picks, cords, windscreens, digital multitrackers, all cool...

Guitars no.
