OK Rea. I'll be the Wizard of Oz. There are lots of aspiring artists and would-be "stars" out there. What have they got that you don't have? Hype. What is that, you ask? Hype is when somebody spends a ton of money to make you "a star", whether or not you have any talent. And who is the person that has all this money? He is variously referred to as "Producer", "Fairy Godfather", or just "Sugar Daddy". So first, you watch a lot of por*no movies, and learn to do everything you see in them. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. Then you find the sugar daddy, and do *half* of those things to him. Then you make it clear that you'll do the other half after he makes you a star. Then he gets you a vocal coach, a wardrobe designer, an orthodontist, a trainer, a nutritionist, a public relations team, and a plastic surgeon to give you big boobs, which will be necessary to do some of the other half of the things in the movies. Oh yes, you'll need a dance instructor, a cosmetologist, and something called "autotune." You'll be a household name, get arrested because of your drug problem, end up at a detox clinic after your new lawyers get you off, and maybe make some of those movies before you get a little older, and the world forgets you exist, and you are crunched up like a paper cup and discarded, or just commit suicide.
Being an artist is one of the best ways to avoid becoming a "star". "Stars" are just another form of whore. A few of them get to marry the king, but most of them spend a lot of time in hot pants on the corner asking, "Wanna date?" Or- you could develop better goals, like to become a better singer, dancer or actress. To write a good song, make a good movie. Simply learn to do something very well because you love it, instead of what it can be sold for. As an ancient Jiu-Jitsu master said, "If you have one eye on your destination, you have only one eye with which to look for the path."
