Hi, i'm trying to record some drums.

My mixer is reaLLy crappy so when I mike the drumset and plug the line-out straight into the computer, I can never get a decent sound.

I wonder if there is a hardware to multitrack it right into cubase. Like the bass drum on 1st and snare on the 2nd channel of cubase all seperately...

I guess 6 tracks would be enough for me. And the computer is fast enough.

but the budget...

I need something like the roland vs840..something but, I thought, as long as I have the computer, it would be cheaper to use all the functions in the software and just purchase somekind of a mixer very comatible with the computer.

you would need a multichannel soundcard and either a mixer or external preamps.......whats your budget?

btw, what mixer/mics are you using? what soundcard?......

you could probably get a better sound with 2 mics if you use the right ones with the right preamp.....

budget, budget...

I need something to function like those 8 track stuff like those Roland VS-880s or fostex 8-somethings... only if it is going to be cheaper. so not for more than 500...

about the mikes, I have some sm57s and 58s... I don't know...

How many inputs and outputs do you exactly need?

We know now that your budget is $500.00.

We also now know that you need a multi inout sound card.

We just need to know exactly how many inputs you need simultaneously.
