ms16 digital counter PROBLEM

HI everyone, Can anyone give me insight on what is wrong with the counter on my deck? It is not registering the correct min/sec and I can not find anything on it in the manual. Glad to see that this site exists since Tascam has bit the dust on their forums

If the tach roller is not contacting properly with the tape, it might be a possibility of the source of the problem.

The rubber coating must be in good shape to roll consistently and output the pulses to the logic board that drives the time display.

Is your roller healthy?

Does the time track accurately on your remote or AQ65 Auto-locater? If yes, you have a bad circuit in the transport that must be serviced. If not, I would suspect the tach roller assembly.

Phil,

Let us know what happened after you inspect the tach roller to see if it is spinning positively, traction wise, against the tape.

The manual does actually explain the functionality of the roller on page 5 - 4 to page 5 - 7.

There are also azimuth adjustments to the roller explained in the maintenance section on page 7 - 18.
