Hello everybody. I'm new here.
I'm a guitarist/songwriter, & I've got a question for you...
I've just seen this great piece of recording equipment called a MRS-1044CD.
It's a digital multi-track recorder made by Zoom.
It has a 40GB HD, drum machine, vocal & guitar effects, mastering & a CD Burner!
So you can actually produce finished CD at home!
I'm pretty excited about this piece of equipment.
I've looked at stuff like Cubase, Pro-tools,ect, in fact my bands last album, (14 tracks) which we only got pressed about 2 weeks ago, was recorded on a program very similar, & it stacked up reasonably well quality-wise, & cost us about a third (we payed a friend, who had all the stuff),of what our last EP (6Tracks, recorded at a "real" studio) cost.
The thing is with this MRS-1044CD, is that it's totally self-contained within this little box, does pretty much everything that the computer software can do, & is no more complicated, to use than an 8-track, & is about the same size. Also it costs around $2600 AUSTRALIAN dollars, which these days is probably about $2.50 US (LOL!).
Just the way things like Cubase is drawing a lot of people away from recording studios, this thing (apparently) is is drawing a lot of people away from computer software recording packages, like Cubase.
Anyway, that's my first impression.
I was just curious to hear other people's impressions of this thing, seeing as though it is so new, & I know very little about it myself.
Has anyone come across this, or similar things that would like to share their thoughts/opinions with me???
Thanx.
Pasc.
