That passage at 1:21 with the guitar and vocal doing that slow trill on "Mr. Moo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oonlight" is perfect.

Mr. Moonlight.....


This is a great song, from the heavy intro/coda to the cymbal chokes during the verses to the vocal/lead guitar duet style chorus. Overall the sounds are pretty smooth and well recorded, with more than a hint of the vintage in the instrument choice, execution, and mixing. Love it.

The drums could be a bit louder, and the snare and kick a bit louder overall in the drum mix.

The singers delivery is fucking glam, and reminds me of Bowie or Julian Cope. Maybe a little Spacehog. Very very well done. Perhaps a bit too much "tube" on the vocals for my personal taste, but nevertheless appropriate to the song and style. I think these are some of the best vocals I've heard on this site or the "other place". Just slinky and gorgeous. He nailed it.


There's a passage at 3:30 that does call/response:


Please, please please put some sick short wah lead guitar runs in between the first two vocal lines here.. at 3:34 and 3:41.

One of the guys in the band (lead guitarist) suggested the name.

And the rest of us said why not.

As far as I know he was some kinda Russian adventurer or some writer.
Or somethin close to that.

thanks a lot Casey, this is really some very kind and encouraging words from you.
You know I love the stuff you and Incanus do, and your vox rock the world as far as I`m concerned.

The mix on the ohter hand will have some more adjustments, my drummer is also got a studio, a much better one then mine.
He will also make a mix.
maybe we`ll make a combo.

Your sugestion with the wha wha is Great, I gonna suggest i for my band mates, they`ll eat it raw.

Guitar- chain; Fender strat into Mesa Nomad 45 vox 212 cab.
Some nifty pedals such as Big muff were used.
Sm57 angled from the side into the right speaker cone, and 3 feet away a SP B1, all into My daw Firepod pre`s.

1. I listened in headphones.

2. I haven't read everything in this thread.

From what I remember, this recording sounds less cloudy than the original, and the performances are tighter. Hell, yes, I love this song!!! So cool. Yes, the drums could come up a bit in the mix, but that could make it less 70's sounding. Great, great lead vocal performance. Outstanding. I really can't say enough good things about this song. I never forgot it after first hearing it a year or so ago.

Sounds cool... I'll try to hear it with my AKG monitor headphones in the night to have a more acurate opinion... Well, I find the guitars well tracked and they really have an "old" vibe. Good job. Maybe the drum section could be 1.5% more present.
 
Oh, yeah. The name

Baron Von Munchausen. He was a notorious teller of tall tales. There's a Terry Gilliam movie 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen' Coincidentally, the DVD is being shipped to my place as I write. Should be here today or tomorrow. Great Movie. Great band name!
