New owner here, the Fostex page for downloading their .wav software seems to be out of commission. Does anyone know of any other place to download this software.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

I wish I could help you out Revrund. Maybe some of these guys who are more computer knowledgeble than myself can help you out. I thought about someone maybe emailing it to you, but I don't know if that would work?
I looked on the Silvercloud software site, but it is apparently just a middle man for fostex. The wavmanager is not on their site.

This whole wave manager thing . . .

Hey Revrund,

Here's the deal (in rant format): at one point Fostex posted the wave manager on the front page of the site, and then again in the updates section. However they have moved it to this place:

http://www.fostex.co.jp/int/software/dloadmen.html

Go there and get it.

I would also like to use this as an opportunity to answer a question that others might have about the Fostex Wav Import/Export thing . . . How do you do it?

Weeell. Fostex really could have marketed this totally, i mean it's great, import wavs via USB! Awesome. However, instructions are not included in the manual, and its like getting kicked in the groin to figure it out on their website FAQ or whatever.

So here it is, if you want to import a wav.

1. You have to get the program that Revrund is talking about, the WAVE MANAGER.
2. Plug your MR-8 (or when refering to it in the same sentance as the wave manager, the **&%^* MR-8,just kidding :)) into the USB port of your win2000+ computer, and make sure they are both on.
3. the device drivers on the mr-8 will magically install, and then you can open it up as a removable hard drive via MyComputer, but you dont have to open it up. just remember which new drive it is because you will have to tell the wave manager where to go later i think. i cant remember.

So thats it. dont waste an hour like i did trying to cut and paste the wavs into track 7 or 8. blah.

Muchos gracias

Thanks Dustin and Gospel, your info is much appreciated. Looking forward to partaking in this board more often.

This may be a difference in OSs but I do things a little different than Dustin. I have XP and this is how I do it.
1. Put MR-8 in USB mode (while hooked to PC via USB). A window then pops up on the desktop asking what you want to do. Click on "take no action".
2. Open up the Wavmanager from wherever you have it and the files on the MR-8 are there. Then all you have to do is pick what tracks you want to transfer by checking the boxes beside them and click export.

Optional but highly recommended:
GET N-TRACK!!!!!

right!

dang that new fangled Windows XP oversimplifying everthing! and it's bubbly, arg.

i downloaded n-track at school the other day for a quick edit (freeware on shareware.com) and it looked really nice.

I had a hard time with it in my 60sec review but thats probably because I am used to Acid products.

Anyway, i guess that was off topic
