Hi,
Yesterday I received a new CF card ( I won't reveal its identity until I work with it for a while longer but it did come up with 97 track minutes and 12 seconds !!)
After about 10 minutes of track time, I was merrily laying down thelead guitar on track 4 and hit a card error 14.
I also noticed that my wife had just run the vacumn and it sometimes causes the lights to dim in certain areas of the house (like on the same circuit). I played back and card error returned at at bar 50 with this like electronic reading sound !

I copied my mr-8 files to the PC, reformatted the CF, copied them back to the CF and now everything is working great again !!!

Anybody seen anything like this ?

No, but some of us thought the intermittent headphone distortion was releated to power, as well.

Can't wait to hear how the new card works out!

Hi,
I found a couple of posting on deja that said something like the only couple of times they had problems with cf in the last year was when the power went real low. This kinda of fits the vacumn power up / circuit power loss I think happened last night !

Seems like Fostex really pushed the limits to get the thing to run with batteries. Since folks have reported that the batteries last about five minutes, they probably should have saved the space and bumped up the power requirements.

Ah, but those marketing people needed "RUNS ON BATTERIES!!!" on the brochure...

I think the Korg PXR4, without using backlighting, was the only unit that really works on batteries, anyway - 8 hours on two AA's, or something.
