I have had for just 2 hours an MR-8 unit as I wanted to use it to make good classical guitar recordings.
Well I sent it back immediately as I realized that when the machine accesses to the compact flash card (for whatever operation) it generates cyclic beeps noises (NOT THE METRONOME !) that are unfortunately recorded if using external microphones.
Must find some other machine to have quiet, noises free recordings for my classical guitar.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks

souds like its just a bad unit, never heard this one before, they should just replace it for you , its a good little recorder

Interesting. That has been one bizzare thing about it when I did hear it. I just tracked and had no extra noise, sometimes I do. I used higher source levels than nylon st. guitar tho.

these things seem to really work well for people, with no problems at all, or the compete opposite with little weird problems that creap up.....fingers crossed, no problems yet, about two years or so.....

Mody, I got into home recording for exactly the same reason. I play CG also. My condolences ;). I agree withe the other posters, I use mine for recording, in stereo and have had no problems. At least, I have had no problems other than those I created.

Get another unit. It should work fine. I have had a ball with mine. I use it mainly for self critique but I'm to the point where crappy computer recordings weren't telling me what I needed to know. Depending on the mics used, I would suggest that you use an external preamp.

Good luck and if you're anywhere near Cleveland, Ohio next March, they are hosting a great guitar weekend.

Regards, Steve
