MR-8 and mixer question

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a small mixer (Behringer 802) to use with the MR-8 (original). However, I was wondering, will I be able to plug in my guitar, bass, directly into the mixer, or will I have to buy a DI box and plug into that first? I want to be sure I do all this right.

For use, is it instrument, into > mixer, into > MR-8?

I'll get some mics later (when I have more $, I'm a grad student).

One more thing. I noticed someone mentioned about the recorded song's volume sounding weak when transferred to the computer. What can you do to ensure the song has a decent volume level when transferred?

Yea 1'4 should work fine. I record alot of guitar into the Mixer.

The best way to make sure you have a strong volume level when transferring to pc is to make sure that you record at a strong volume level going in. Adjust the mixer and the trim knobs on the MR-8 so that you are not getting the red lights (digital clipping) and go from there.
