mp3s of mastered material

I'd like to hear the difference between unmastered and mastered material. Here's a modest proposal for the engineers. How about posting some stuff you've done both before and after you mastered it? It would be a large project, because you'd have to post at least two or three different songs off the same CD, in both before and after formats. This would be educative for people on this board, and possibly remunerative for yourselves in the future. I get to sit back and wait.

Hey dobro, if you are up for the nearly 25mb download, I have a mp3 on my website that is this vary thing. You hear a short clip (maybe one minute) of a song before mastering, then right into the same song after mastering. It includes examples of edits that can be done, and different types of fade outs, cross fades, and fade in's.....

But it IS a big download.

Ed - that file on your site was too big to download. I tried again with Gozilla, but in the end, I had to abandon that too, because Gozilla sucks, if that's the correct term.

Can you suckers get a CD together? CDs are where it's at for the moment. It's what people buy. If Slack can get a CD together, if Drstawl and Emeric and others can get CDs together, if 3D Audio can get a preamp CD together, then you engineer types ought to be able to club together and front your wares. That sounds really commercial, I know, but basically I just want to hear the difference on a CD. I write Santa sometimes.
