Mp3 players

Hey,
I’m looking for an affordable, but quality mp3 player to use while jogging.

======================

1. Does anyone know of any good mp3 players to research?

2. Is there a better place to post this question on Home Recording?

3. Is there an outside discussion forum (another website) that can help me with this question?

======================

Thanks,
chaaaaaa

If you are going low budget, JAMP3 by KB Gear costs around $50, and has USB connection for loading your songs onto the player. Only 16MB internal memory, but if you buy a card it is expandable.

Hey,
Thanks for responding.

Actually, my budget is around goes up to around $125 or so.

I’m looking for something pretty legitimate.
Also, I’m not looking for a CD player/mp3 player.
I’m just looking for a straight mp3 player.

Thanks

chaaaaa,
In that category, you've got many more choices. RIO seems to have the biggest product line and longest history. For me, I wanted the cheapest one with USB support.

not sure where you might find a good forum on this topic, you could always try cnet.com for reviews...

Thanks for the reply.

- How do you like your mp3 player?
- Do you use it a lot?
- Is it a mp3 player/cd player?
- How’s the design?

- Any problems with it?

Thanks

I like mine. It is not the kind that plays CD's too, strictly MP3. I got it to use to check mixes in my car. Even with the cost of CDr's getting pretty low, I figured this might be a little more economical in the long run. I didn't install any of the software that came with it, cuz I don't really need it. (I've already got ripping proggies, mp3 players, etc.) I just load mine up like it was a floppy disc in windows explorer.

The few things I don't like about the JAMP3 player:
It goes thunk through my stereo when I turn it on.
It does not have a way to power it other than the batteries.
It only displays the track number, not the name or ID3 tag.

Thanks for getting back.

- How long does it take to download music on to it?
- How much memory does it have?
- Does memory have to do with how much data it can hold?

- If I download 24bt files then will I be able to pack more minutes on the mp3 player than if I downloaded files with a 128bt rate?

Thanks again

USB transfers are pretty fast, a few seconds/song.

16MB internal expandable to ??

Absolutely, more memory = more songs

Yes, but the 24bt songs won't sound as good. You have to decide where you want to be on the "Quantity vs. Quality" scale....

Just in case we missed something here, follow this link:

Hey,

Thanks again.

Yeah, what you wrote sounds good. I'm looking to put Howard Stern radio files on the player, they're usually at a rate of 24 bits, so that works well.

Also, thanks for the link.

How many songs at a rate of 128 can you shove on your player?

hehe, That depends on how long the songs are.... :D

A whole bunch of Beatles songs....

One Grateful Dead live version of Sugaree....
