I would like to mix music and very green at it. I have several MP3's that i have gotten of the net and mostly interested in turning them into a good mix. Trance and Progressive House is what i'm most interested in. I have been playing around with PCDJ and N-Track but don't seem to be getting anywhere. I mostly want to match up BPM and get in a good crossfade and then hopefull play around with some effects. But as for laying down samples that will be in the far future.

I am really interested in this and believe it will turn into a new hobbie. If someone could give me some programs that are more user friendly for the novice i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Pez

PCDJ sounds like the right tool for you. But nothing worthwhile ever comes easy. Ask for some tips in the DJ/Beats section on this bbs and find one of the PCDJ specifc forums I'm sure exists.

Practice. Practice. Practice.

GET YOURSELF A SET OF 1210'S AND LEARN TO DO IT PROPERLY.

Once you have mastered the art of mixing a good set you will get a "live feel" . The whole point of dj'ing is spontanuity and going with the feel of what you are creating - taking the listener in a new direction or introducing emotion. Lots of people moan that all dj's do is play other peoples records but when you mix an hour set your are pasting lots of parts together and going through a similar motion as people making music on a studio.
When you can record a set into the computer you can run it through any sequencer etc and add effects and maybe a few other tunes fading in and out that you wouldn't normally have time to que up.

Good Luck ;)
