Y'know, it's pretty presumptuous of people to say you gotta comment to get listeners.

That's all hooey. There is no standard 'this for that' mp3 post etiquette.

Post if you want to post.
Comment if you want to comment.
Do both, or do neither.

If your stuff is worthy, people will listen.
If you have an amiable presence on other non mp3 posts, people will listen.
If you suck or are an ass, even then some people will listen.

It's hard to see people sometimes get ignored and then get discouraged.

There's enough variety and a wide span of talent for this forum to be all inclusive, from the hacks to the pros, including hip hop if it comes to that.

I don't see the mp3 forum as having a standard format.

It's a free for all!!!:eek::eek:;)

I think it more presumptous to post without having done so.
Then again all traditions, etiquette, manners have a presumption - usually misbased on uncommon sense I suppose - of attempting to do the situationally "right thing".
In the broad church of the MP3 Clinic this is the confessional and all participants are the father/mother confessor.
gullyjewelz,
Sorry you felt unwelcome. I try not to be genre prejudiced but I do shut down when there's been a flood of a particular sub genre. I also have to admit to not bothering to read down to a link when someone puts their message/request in the vernacular of their rhymes. Drop a link by sometime, please.

I give more feed back than I post songs. Especially with my studio torn apart right now (still have monitors up ;) ). I try to drop in at least once a week and listen to a few songs to give feedback cause I know how thankful I am when people give me feedback. I do admit I am hit and miss though. I know I have missed songs I wish I hadn't.

Damn I think I may have confused my caveman with my tonto:eek:

Wait a second???? Could they be the same dialect, absent an image to distinguish?

I rarely post music anymore. I do come here and listen once in a while though. Don't post replies much because I'm still learning all this stuff myself, so any advice would be mere speculation on my part. :D

Voted 4 even I know I haven't around much lately due to moving and just getting internet again... but I think this place rocks. A bunch of people doing pretty much what I'm doing with probably a whole story behind every song they post. So I try to offer what I can knowing the tunes mean something. There's a lot of variety, people, friends I haven't really met yet, and rocking going on :cool:

Just because someone doesn't post many comments, doesn't mean they are not listening to tunes posted here. :D

I would rather not comment on tunes that are not my cup-o-tea. I have such weird, non mainstream taste in music that I rarely find any tunes that are my style.

If it's a sappy love song, a tune that is totally predictable and I know what the next chord is or a raging heavy metal tune with the word death in the title, I'll listen to about 10 seconds and then run for some aspirin. Sometimes I'll make it all the way through a tune and like it enough to comment but that's rare.

That's just me, 20 other people will love the tune and they are qualified to comment, not me.

I usually comment on peoples tunes that actually comment on mine so it goes both ways.
