moving to laptop?

I have Cakewalk Prosuite and I am looking to move my desktop system to a laptop system (now that computer prices have come down)

Any suggestions?

Looking for other people's recommendations based on what they use in regards to DAW and a Laptop.
I am in the shopping stage in regards to the Laptop.

Toshiba Satellite P35 and MOTU 828MKII. Thats my setup with Sonar and I am really enjoying it after a year and a half of using it. (I actually own the P25, but they don't make that model any more)

My biggest suggestion is to decide on your soundcard first, then choose a system that is 100% compatible with the soundcard manufacturer recommendations. That way you won't have to worry about things not working or being hard to set up. Mine was plug and play and start recording within 5 minutes.

nice setup hard2hear, both awsome pieces of equipment. I'm thinking of getting anew laptop. I'm gonna get one from a company called ABS, do a search for them. I havn't researched their prices yet, but they have a sweet laptop builder interface on their website, and offer great parts (e.g. the latest nvidia graphics cards.).

Gateway P4 Laptop, Motu828mkII, Glyph firewire drive here.

I'd generally recommend a Gateway Centrino book, with a firewire interface of some sort.

I've had a Gateway for 3 years, and their support is excellent, and the notebook very nice.

I have an Asus mobo in my desktop so I went for an Asus laptop.
Nice machine, 1.6Ghz Pentium M, wireless blahblah, 512MB & a 40GB HD. Even though it's only 4200rpm, it's got no probs recording 8 tracks @ 24/48 thru the firepod.

The good thing about the laptop is its quieter than the desktop. I tend to just use it for recording, then transfer to the desktop for editing, adding effects etc.
