Move all wavs from a project to a different drive?

Is it possible to do this without going through by hand and moving and re-inserting bits one at a time? All my takes for one song have been going to the Cakewalk program folder on my C: drive but for performance I need my audio to go on my D: drive. Is it possible to just tell it a new location and swap them all over or something? Sonar 4 PE.

I'm pretty sure you'll need to redefine the audio path for every song. When I need to move all the audio files for a project, I select "Save As" to rename the project and when you do that you can also select a new audio folder and all the files will copy to that new location. Then you can delete the old project files and clean your audio folders to get rid of the old stuff.

I use Sonar 5, but i also used 4 and I think that was the same...

Nik - not sure what moving and reinserting bits means.

First off, are you using "per project" file storage? It sounds like you are not. So you should start there by enabling this option.

Afterwards, you should be able to open a project, and then resave it to the D: drive (change your Sonar default directories first). When you resave it, there is an option somewhere to copy all audio files or reference from current location. Select the copy files option and Sonar will copy all the audio files associated with the project to the new directory/drive.

Once you've done this for all your projects, you should be able to go back and delete all the files in the Cakewalk audio directory. (Just make sure everything is working right first. :) ).

BTW, when you reset your default directories, leave the Picture Cache on your C: drive.

whenever i do this I just move the entire cakewalk project folder across if you also move the cakewalk project files across there should be no problem.

Well yeah, if they are in a single folder to begin with.

It *sounds* like he has ALL his projects in the Cakewalk audio folder. That's why I asked the question if he was using per project storage.
