Mounting mic inside a mask.

A friend who's a singer in a band came up with this idea (he stole it from Mike Patton actually) to mount a microphone inside of a protective mask. He then connects it to a guitar amp to get the distorted sound. The problem is that he gets feedback from hell even at very low volumes. I thought using a miniature microphone would be better instead of the cheapo radio schack type of mic he's using now, but I'm not sure. DPA's aren't actually cheap, and they're omnis which I guess would increase the feedback even more.

Any ideas or input is welcome

Well first off you are going to get the most clostraphobic sound you have ever heard by putting a mic inside a mask.......have you ever heard the sound of your own voice when you talk with a mask on?

But if thats part of what you want.....then forget what I just said.....


But guitar cabs are not the place to look for humless distortion. You need a vocal processor for that. And even then you are going to get a good dose of feedback.
