Which sound card? I'm either gonna get 1 MOTU 2408 and 2 MOTU 1296's, or the Lexicon system with 3 LDI-10's and 1 LDI-12. any experiences with any of these?
Go with the MOTU setup. I have the MOTU 2408 & MOTU 1224. The LEDs that come with the MOTU units are worth their weight in gold. They allow you to monitor your signals a lot better - very inportant for digital recording. I would like to get two MOTU 1296 sometime down the road.

Go Motu.....Has a better track record. I had a Lexicon and had some difficulties... If I made a routing change, I would have to reboot in order for the change to take place! That's just lame.......
As you are seeing by replies. MOTU is scoring High Marks all over North America.
I myself use a MOTU 1224 / PCI 324 Card.
24bit / 117db ..Sound Excellent.
Reliable also. MOTU would be strongly suggested.
Good Luck..
Hey guys,
Got a question bout MOTU (specifically the 2408). I asked a question under the Newbies portion of this BBS but then stumbled across this so please forgive my redundance.
I've been looking to incorporate mulitrcking on my computer with the ADAT I have (for more tracks and editing,etc.). I wanted to be able to recording mutiple tracks onto my computer at a time (preferabley up to 8 or more). Someone told me to ckeck out the MOTU 2408. I did but I didn't understand whether this unit also came with a recording/editing program similar to Cubase and Cakewalk or whether the MOTU was just a piece to support multitrack recordings into programs like Cubase, etc.
Sorry for any idiocy, but I'm still a little new at this (especially with computers).
Thanks
-Ant
I don't understand why the MOTU 2408 is said to be able to record 24 channels simultaneously when there are only 8 inputs in the back, I already know that I'm saying something stupid but I'd love some clarification. Also which unit is better to buy first the 2408 or the 1224 if you can only afford one at a time.
