ok, I've finally gotten this thing to work properly with my comp. Had to go thru BIOS and all that jazz....Anyways, I got the MOTU Consel software opened, and I go, "wow, I just bought a MIDI router?"

I am very confused, no idea why MIDI cables need to be routed. But, my case is simple, 2 MIDI gear, one is POD Pro, which I already got it working. But the problem is my XP30, as soon as I plug the midi cables into the XT, a red light blinks. I remember someone telling me that this is a sign that XP30 is sending out some sort of signal.

But, appearently the MOTU isn't reading the XP30 too well, cuz there is no "green" light when I play the XP30, and SOnar sure isn't getting anything either.

What's the problem here?? I'm rather newb to this. Any help would be great

I dont know much about Midi Express either, but When I thought of buying that a guy in the store told me that they work just under Mac, is that true? are you using mac?

I use one on my pc. But it's pretty hard to say what your problem is... Do you have the corect midi in set on your sonar track? It should be set to the same midi port that the xp is going into on the motu.

Ok, I think I got it working now:)

the problem was that the XP was set to PC1 instead of MIDI since I am using a midi interface (XT) opposed connecting it directly to the PC.

now I just gotta figure out how to work them with Sonar.

thanks, J and Sub, for stopping by

latency...

ok, Sub

After having everything working together, here is a little issue, I was wondering if you could give me some pointers...

There is a 1.5 sec latency in between when the keys are pressed and when Sonar actually recieves the midi data.

I've checked everything in Sonar and made sure the midi latency is set to minimum, but, I suspect the problem is within XT. I should set the master clock to "internal" as in computer, right? If so, how do I set the XT to do that? So far, in MOTO Console/Advanced MIDI, I've checked the Transport Master and Synch Master boxes in MOTU console, also, in the Sync window, I've set the master to "internal".

Am I doing somethign wrong here??

Thanks again

Goto OPTIONS -> MIDI DEVICES -> click OK and do the same for OPTIONS -> INSTRUMENTS -> click OK (sounds funny isn't it?) Now try playing, is the 1 sec delay still there? If not it is a driver problem which I had before, you just have to update your driver.

Jeyanm,

according to your test, my driver is failing me cuz the problem remains. Which driver do you think is the problem? Sonar's or XT's?

anyways, I am going to hunt for some driver upgrade now

Thanks

Al
