I use my Firepod with my Dual 2ghz Powermac G5, with Mac OS 10.3.9 and Digital Performer 4.6.
It has been running great, no complaints here.

Just out of curiosity, how are the pres on the firepod? What other pres have you tried?

ANother vote for the Firepod

I have the Firepod. No complaints. It is user friendly and reliable.

Also to be fair, my neighbor has the MOTU. He loves it. Both are very good :)

$200 for six more channels? I'd go with the pod.

Yeah sounds good. My Firebox is probably my favourite material possession after my guitar that is. Then there's my speakers BX5's, my headphones and all that.

I'm a very lucky man. How am I going though? One song in a year. And it's not even finished and it's not even very good!!

I'm planning on getting a firepod.
I have a dual 2gig Powermac G5, do you think it'll be able to handle 8 tracks at once?

It should handle it pretty easily. I just sold such a machine on eBay. I used to simultaneously record 8 tracks in DP (while playing dozens) with a random mixture of a FW1814 and a Delta 1010LT with no problems at all, and the FirePod seems to work well from my limited testing thus far.

The FirePod works out of the box with Apple's built-in drivers, though they provide a couple of tools for updating the firmware and switching from internal to S/PDIF sync. Nice piece of hardware. Standards compliance is a good thing.

MY comp definatly got the trick done. I have been using my firepod for 6 months now and have never had a problem

OH it is so stable. I love it SO MUCH. I haven't really gotten to exploit it to its fullest extent yet. But I LOVE my 896HD. I had it up and running on my PC within like 15 minutes. I have never had any stability problems. The drivers have been top notch everytime I have turned on the computer. The meters on it are WONDERFUL. I love being able to see how hot my signals are on the front end. The overload lights just aren't enough for me. The CUEMIX direct monitoring with the Motu is really great also. And the routing options are crazy.

What software are you using on your PC with the 896?

thanks
