If you just need 8 preamps, go for it.

It's a great little unit - completely different to the Motu in terms of IO.

PS. A bit late, but you could have just added a behry ada8000 to your motu.

Just a quick question, what do you mean, different IO?
 
I'm not sure if you want me to elaborate or just explain what I/O means. :p

I/O = inputs and outputs.

If memory serves, the firepod has eight channels of analog audio input and output.
Each input has a mic preamp and it also has stereo digital spdif IO.



Motu 828 has two mic preamps, each of which can function as an instrument DI.
It has eight dedicated line level inputs and outputs (+4/-10 switchable).
It also has s/pdif I/O, and 8 channels of digital input up to 96k I think, over lightpipe.

Looking into it they're not quite as different as I remembered, but the adat would have allowed you to expand your motu.
