Most Overrated Guitarists

Nugent - sucks
Marty Friedman - O/R
Kerry King - sucks
Vai - O/R
Mamlsteen - O/R
Lenny Kravitz - sucks
Dave Navvaro - O/R

What do you guys think?
 
Vai over rated........I don’t think so.
I do think the rest of your list is accurate.
 
Lenny Kravitz isn't a guitar player, he's really a singer/songwriter. I like him. This is a racist thing to say, but I really think black people who play rock music are really cool. My favorite studio guys to play with are all black rocker dudes, and we all dig Lenny. Just take him for what he is.

Not a "guitar player" lke those other dudes:)

In the circles I run in (play in) Kenny Wayne Shepherd usually take top rank as "over rated."
 
I'll prolly get slammed for this one, but I've always thought Clapton was overrated. :p

While I wouldn't personally slam you on that...there are bigger fish to fry.
 
Sorry, I cant help it. How can you say that? Clapton is the greatest guitar player who ever lived. Did you see him at the Crossroads guitar festival? He was at least twice as good as any other guitar player there, and that includes LEGENDS like Buddy Guy. You try to play any of the stuff off his unplugged album and you will see that he is amazing.

I saw this response coming a mile away, "Clapton is the greatest guitar player who ever lived". I can't even count how many times I've heard this statement. What is it about Clapton fans?

Actually I did a session a few years back where I had to play a couple tracks from the unplugged album, I did a live off the floor and my leads sounded like Malmsteen, Eddie and Clapton in a big circle jerk. :eek: (I'm a wanker at heart)

Anyways, I never said he sucked, but I still think he's over rated :p
 
Nugent sucks??? For one, I don't believe anyone considers him one of the best. Secondly some of his earlier stuff is his best (Stranglehold) when he just played guitar and left the singing to that other guy (St. something or other??) Steve Vai overrated??? He kicks butt on the guitar. I'm not some fanatical fan of his, in fact some of his music bores me, but that doesn't mean he's not a great guitarist or is overrated. I do have a DVD of G3 (Vai, Satriani, Johnson) and he is just great (of course so is his sidekick Mike Keneally). Think about it, Nugent and Vai live up to their reputation, so how could they suck or be overrated?? Same for Clapton, he lives up to his reputation. For the most part though, unless someone is just outright terrible, doesn't it "mostly" boil down to one's opinion.

dude, i get sucked into those infomercials everytime i run across them...you see him aping Metallica on the newest one? :cool:
 
If anything, Steve Vai is underrated. He is one of the best ever.
And Estaban freakin ROCKS!!! :D

Really, isn't everyone's opinion their own? It would be literally impossible to determine "the best guitar player." There is too much criteria that is so complex and then the fact that no one person has ever heard every guitar player on earth. Therefore I believe that to be a very bold claim.
 
Oh yeah, has anyone ever bought that Eesteban thing? I really don't understand how claims like that could be made if they weren't true. Doesn't anyone have any decency??
