I purchased an upgrade cd for vegas 4 (I used to have vegas2). Only problem is everytime I load it onto my computer, the mp3 encoder comes up as "unregistered." The software gives me 20 free encodes before I have to register the product. Now I could just reload the program every 20 encodes. But I would rather just register the darn thing and be done with it. However, everytime I try to register the product, I get a message that says "the product can not be registered."

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Purchase of the encoder is separate of Vegas, I would believe.
You would need to purchase the registration for the encoder from the developer of the encoder or use dBpowerAMP music converter for free.

cool

i think i already have dpowered amp

but does it/will it work "automatically" inside VEGAS?

if so, how do you get it to work that way?

cuz right now, when VEGAs opens, i get the message that i need to register the encoder. and when I try -- it says it cant register cuz the code is not in the database. then my project opens up -- but with empty spots everywhere an mp3 vocal is supposed to be

???

No, it doesn't. Just right-click on the wave file, and select "Convert To". This will bring up a seperate context menu where you can choose between the various encoders on your system (FLAC, MP3, Ogg, Monkey Audio, etc...). After that it should be self explanatory.
