More newbie questions from PRC

Well, I finally got the proper mic cord as advised here, but still no signal in the pre-amp. (please see my previous post to see my problem) Any ideas? What can I do for troubleshooting within my limited means? Please advise? I hate that I have this equipment and that I am unable to use it.... Thanks

Where is you input knob set, where is the output knob set? is the +20dB button pushed in? Try monitoring the output signal of the preamp from your computer s/w. It's not inconceivable that the meter on the pre could just be broken. Hope this helps
