Here's my Misfits-inspired take on the Halloween classic.....

"Monster Mash"

I recorded this last year with my old equipment and when I was slightly more dumb than I am now, so there's a lot of things about it I don't like - like the drums especially - but I just never went back and fixed them.

Some of you have probably heard this already, but here it is anyway. :p

Whatever the hell that high pitched thing is in the first few seconds (maybe a "chain" kinda sound fx?) has to go or at least have the highs EQed down! Had a fingernails on chalkboards effect and not in a cool monstery sorta way. :mad: Otherwise it sounds great. I actually got the same sorta feel from the bong sound effect at the end, but not as bad. There's just some really cripy piercing frequencies in there. Maybe my ears are just being too sensitive today. :confused: :o

I know the mix aint great. I never went back and fixed anything from back when I first did it. I just posted it up cuz it's halloween. :p

great halloween song! I'll loop it tonight on the outside speakers as I sit in my tree and throw rocks at the kiddies!

Awesome. The good thing about it is that, as good as it sounds, it also shows how much better you've become at recording since then. Your stuff sounds much better now. Not that this sounds bad, it's great. Fun tune, and rockier than the original, which is always good.

Last year, I blasted Sabbath out the window as the kiddies roamed the neighborhood in search of treats. I really amuzed myself with that one.

I actually have a copy of the Bobby 'Boris' Picket & the Crypt Kickers 5 LP.
I like the Misfits - they do seem to have spent more time in the past in the last decade.
This is REALLY GOOD Greg but, just in case you didn't know, YOU can write fun punk pop too - as recently proven.
Mash Good, especially with bangers & dead horse.
NOT a bong, oh - you'd have to have good lungs to draw that long anyway.
PS - I had to explain the TRICK part of trick or treat to some kids yesterday: they though All Hallow's Eve was just about LOLLIES.

Haha, thanks Ray. Yeah kids just don't get it these days. I made sure to give my kids a big fat dose of getting-the-shit-scared-out-of-you this halloween. :p

This was all recorded on my "old" setup and mixed with headphones last year. I knew even less then than I know now, so yeah some things are off. The drums were recorded through a mixer to one stereo track, so tweaking the individual drums is impossible now. i just posted it up for shits and grins for halloween. Again, sorry for the late response. I musta been on crack to miss these last 2 threads of mine you replied to. :o

Not sure how I missed commenting on this song...Great job! The bubbling gives me anxiety...well done...sound quality is great here.

do me a favor, head on down to Marini's House of Empanadas when you get a chance and have a few "Gaucho's" for me!
