Monitors!!!

Hi All...as you can tell from my post count, I am new around here. Just wanting to get some more people's opinions on what kinds of monitors I should get. I use a Mackie 1202 VLZ Mixer...and these monitors would plug into this as well as my SB Live Platinum Card...depending on how I feel.

I need something with decent power, flat response and perhaps an 8" woofers. I am not sure what I really need as I would like to use these for sound reinforcement purposes (like so I can hear myself singing while playing keyboard or something), but would also like to use these to monitor for mixing, mastering...recording and MIDI. Thanks All for any suggestions.


BTW...budget about a grand Canadian so about 700 American. Thanks a lot.

sure do:D ...now if my monitor budget was $700 like milkman Id have myself a pair.......
 
Lets see, homrec newbie shopping list....

Monitors: JBL LSR25p
LD Condenser: Studio Projects C1 or Marshall V67G
SD Condenser pair: Marshall 603s
Mixer: Mackie sized to needs
Soundcard: Based on needs (MIDI, OS, #of ins/outs...)
Software: N-Track

How am I doing?

You forgot the hard disc recorder and the extensive racks of effects, the sound forge stuff. etc...
 
there can be no generic list...it depends aloton $$$ budget and sonic expectations and input/output needs.....
