Thomann sometimes beats DV247 and dolphin, but not always, but i use them a lot, especially with their free shipping over £135. It's great when the Euro is weak, 'cause a lot of things are cheaper.

yh i kno, im constantly finding things About 10 cheaper (doesnt sound alot - but to me every bit counts). anyway just realised ur from scotland so the shipping issue isnt a matter.

Especially things like stands, leads etc. £7 for a large stand £10 for small(don't get the logic behind that  :D), £3.50 for 6m XLR. £4.20 for 10m. £6.20 for 6m really good quality xlr.

But anyway, things like their t.bone and t.box range is where the biggest savings are. £90 for 120w active stage monitor(used to be £80). £20 for LDC, £110 for a tube mic, £54 for a ribbon. Millenium Drums £153 for a kit, guitars £54.

Lol i went a bit mad there, rhyming off prices.

sorry to ask again, budgets gone to £300, cant go above, there seems to be more choice at 300, please...

KRKs would be good. Also Tannoy reveals, fostex, wharfedales, etc. I'll let someone else suggest.

Rid, I know only one thing. If you can possibly find a way to buy 2-3 models and actually test them in your studio space--if you can, I think you'll make a much wiser decision. A few years back, I did exactly that when I bought 3 highly recommended models and lived with them for a couple of weeks. One was exceptionally terrible in my room (all bass), one sounded wimpy. And one was pretty good--a bit light on bass, though, which I resolved a year later by buying the matching sub.

The point's obvious. Many of us here at the forum have learned to live with our monitors--if we use them successfully, then we tend to recommend them. But that doesn't mean that all models will work as well in all studio spaces, especially if one is unable to alter that space much (did I mention I'm married?). Try living with a few that come with generally positive reviews, and one will more than likely begin to sing to you. That bit of extra postage will mean nothing a few months later.

Good luck,

J.

Actually, I was thinking about the three beds... one too hard, one too soft, and one...
