I have a pair of Edirol MA-20D. It seems, from reviews, that it colours the sound that it outputs. I was just wondering how one could test something like that.
To do an A/B test, you'd have to borrow someone's "better" monitors and listen.
Or, go to a large vendors' and play one of your tracks through a couple of sets of monitors.
Or, visit a friend's studio and do the same.
You would want "flat" or monitors that do not add color when mixing your tracks. After that, you should enjoy the work on home stereo speakers as well as your monitors.
I know there is a lot of info on this topic on this forum but I was wondering if there is a way to tell by the specifications on the box? Tell if they have a flat response that is.
printed specs dont always tell the whole story.
the only real way to get the full report is to get some independent scientists
expert in acoustics to do independent tests in a proper speaker testing environment or lab.
