I was wondering what to get my budget is around 100, should i go with some cheap monitors? or some nice headphones? I need something to mix better with,

If your budget is only $100 then you should get the Headphones, then save your money to get some monitors, Its really not recommended to use headphones but for your budget that would be the best choice

get a good set of headphones because you need them anyway for tracking. Mixing on them is exceptable at best but for now your budget dos not crack the "even useful" barrior for studio monitors.

I agree with Carter. $100 monitors are just a waste of money IMO.

I also agree with therage that you need both... so get the headphones for now and save up for at least double your current budget for some monitors.

I use headphones for editing... hearing clicks and pops, and monitors for mixing to hear the real sonority better. Headphones tend to make things sound better than they really do.

Any good suggestions for a budget of $500, or is that not enough?

In my lowly opinion I think that $500 (or euros) would be enough for starters. As you develop your skills and find that your monitors have become a week link in your mixing chain then consider upgrading.

I've only got experience with Tannoy Reveal actives although at the time that I chose mine I also listened to more expensive Genelecs. I felt at the time that I couldn't justify spending more money on the Genelecs and that I should learn to use what I could afford. I've certainly not regretted that move so far.

My vote for now would be Headphones, but get some monitors as soon as you can. I always recomend the M-Audio BX-5a's they are very nice for $300.

you can get a decent set of headphones for around $100 - and you will want to have them in the future anyway. $100 wont get any monitors you would want to mix on.

if you ONLY want to spend $100, you can get better headphones for $100 than monitors for $100 (assuming you can find monitors for $100)

But, and i'm sure this has been said 10 million times already, try and save up at least $4-500 for a decent pair of monitors.

how are you going to drive them? got an amp?

seriously, you're clutching at straws here... a pair of six inch kenwoods may work for you but I would not recommend that path

get some headphones... save up for some $300 - $500 active monitors

Yeah i do have a cheasy amp enuff to power those but im not sure how to hook that into the pc, im going to go the headphones route till i can get descent monitors. wich headphones would u recomend? money saved on the cans will go the monitors so think cheap

Try not to think cheap... I mean, you can get headphones for $20 but I would not recommend that either. Headphones need to be comfy as well as sound good and some of the cheaper headphones make part of your head/ears ache after a while.

I can only recommend Beyer Dynamic myself because that's all I have experience with. I use theDT250's but I'm surprised at the price they are still fetching. They are not the best but I only paid £80 for mine over six years ago so god only knows why they are still $170!

I'd probably check out some of the headphones already mentioned above.

wow... they are cheap... at that price I can only say give em a try and throw them away if they are no good;)

To check them out you'll need to do a mix and then burn it to a CD so that you can check out how you've got it right on your hi-fi (and on other systems too... your car for instance).

$100 wont buy u 1 good monitor let alone a pair get a good pair of headphones (also hard to find for that price) i have the hd280s by senisser those are said to be the best in their price bracket but Im unsure I use them and Im ok with them only kuz Ive had them for so long
