My soon to be completed control room is a meager 8' x 14' First, should I put the desk/monitors on the short or long wall? Why? Second, would it be a good idea to keep the ceiling peaked or put in a drop ceiling? The height at the peak is about 11'

Thanks

Which direction does the peak run? North or south?;)

....I mean relative to the walls. And are the walls all at least 8 feet, or does the ceiling slope down further on the sides?

The peak runs parallel with the short wall. Yes, the walls are 8' tall.

Sorry, one more question. What kind of monitors do you have or plan to get?

I would suggest the sort of layout in the attached picture.

Monitors on the short wall, diffusors flanking both sides, slot absorbers on the side walls, and bass traps in all 4 corners and at the peak.

Awesome man. Thanks alot. I hope it will due because it's all the space I have for the control room. I'm taking it that you recommend me keeping the peaked ceiling then?

"I'm taking it that you recommend me keeping the peaked ceiling then?"

Absolutely. With that small a room, you need all the volume (size, that is) that you can get. Also, if you flatten the ceiling you will have TWO 8 foot dimensions, which will worsen room modal response... Steve

Oh, forgot to ask - is the peak in the CENTER of the room, so it's symmetrical? If not, it might be a different story...
