I have just recently purchased the Boss BR 1600 digital recording studio. I do not yet have monitors or headphones. I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas for some good ones to get. Thanks

Ever since a friend stepped on the cord of my sony mdr7506, and pulled it out, I buy only cheap AT headphones. It's alot less expensive, and seeing I only use them for tracking, I can't see paying alot of money for real good ones. I'm not sure but I think Harvey Gerst is still selling his phones at his web site.

As for monitors, you'll get just as many suggestions as there are members here. The best thing to do is do a search, find some that sound interesting from previous threads, then go to your local music shop with music that you're familiar with and have them play it while you listen. After all, if they don't sound good to you, you probably won't be happy with your selection.

The Sennheiser HD280's are great for tracking. It's nice to have some cheapie's around if you are doing a full band but I've found for overdubs you can get better performances with good cans. They also have great isolation.

tracking cheapies...can't do better(price wise) than behringer ...$20 bucks a pop and pretty decent sound

I have a pair of HD-280's and while I have yet to use them for recording, they are excellent headphones for that purpose. You can ask more headphone related Q's at http://www.head-fi.com they'll stear you in the right direction

While http://www.head-fi.com is a great site for help in selecting high quality headphones, they don't address the problem of phones for tracking. Also, the MoreMe headphones sales are so small, compared to the major brands, we just kinda fall into a crack somewhere, way underneath their radar.

Tracking phones have their own set of requirements, which are different from other phones. Isolation and ruggedness are two important factors; extended bass, for example, is not. The MoreMe's were designed to be rugged, loud, and provide good isolation, at a disposable price. After you've destroyed about a thousand bucks worth of good headphones over a few years, cheap and rugged phones start to sound better and better, at least to your wallet.
