I just baught a set of active studio monitors and I would like to know how to place them in a room of 3 meters on 3. At what height, angel etc..

place them at ear level, to form an equidistant, equilateral triangle with your head.

So if you are sitting 4 feet away from them, they should be 4 feet away from each other, aimed at your head.

You want to be right in the sweet spot.

Bsanfordnyc gave you a great starting point. Don’t be afraid to play around a bit from there.

What you’re trying to do is create an accurate stereo sound stage so that parts that are in the middle should sound dead center, parts that are paned left or right should sound like they are coming from the left or right. If everything sounds like its coming from dead center, point the speakers away from your head a little more. If there is no focus and you can’t pick out where the center is, point them more towards your head.

Also some speakers want a perfect equatorial triangle like described above, and some work better in isosceles triangle formation. A little experimenting will help you find the best configuration.

The room plays a big part too, and tends to boost some frequencies and attenuate others. In a smaller room such as yours you might want to see how things sound with the speakers fairly close to you. The closer the speaker is to you the less you will hear the effects of the room on the sound.
