Hello Everyone,

Attached is a small image which will hopefully illustrate this clearly. Basically I have a Monitor + Audio Interface + Balanced Patchbay and need to know which are the correct cables to use.

I am using a XLR --> 1/4" (TRS) going from the monitor(s) to the patchbay (balanced). The Audio Interface will be patched on top (in the back of the bay) and not sure if I should use TS or TRS plugs to connect the AI to the patchbay.

Furthermore, If i was goiung to patch in the front of the patchbay, will I need my normal TS or TRS cables now?

Been doing this forever now, redid the studio, and for some reason
I totally lost all knowledge of tip-ring-sleeve-balanced-unbalanced...Im feeling slightly retarded :(

Thanks in advance for your help,
smoothster :)

Equipment is as follows:

Mackie HR824 Monitors
MOTU 2408mk3 Interface
Samson S-Patch + (plus) Balanced 48 Point Patchbay

Balanced 1/4" cables are also the ones used to conduct stereo signals, since they have 2 isolated tip connections as well as the sleeve for the ground. In the recording studio those three rings are used for cold, hot and ground.

This is a fancy way of saying that for the front of the patchbay shown you need TRS cables...
