Just looking for a good pair of studio monitors, can afford up to 1300 -1500$, i dont know much about whats good or bad, so can you guys help me get to a decision?

ADAM A7s. By far the best thing Ive heard on that price range.

There are many people who like the A7's, and many who don't. I am kind of "iffy" about them. The ADAM monitors seem to be one of those that most people have a strong opinion about, for good or bad. I personally have always been a Dynaudio fan. In that price range the BM6 should be available. There are also solid offerings from Quested and Truth Audio in that price range:)

damn, i wish i had a large budget like that for monitors. i want to get new ones and my budget is 250-300 hahaha...im so poor:(

+1 to the Dynaudio. Incredible stuff.

fwiw I have Dynaudios and ADAMs side by side on my desk every day at work.

I like my Event ASP8's. they're a joy to mix on and they translate great. didn't really like the Dyns or Adams when i tried them out.

monitors are about as personal a choice as you're gonna make. you need to try a bunch of em out before you buy.

cheers,
wade

Thanks guys that realy helped, although i have a not so big room, round 5x5 feet so i m not sure what monitors would be ideal for that size

5 feet by 5 feet. Really??? I can't imagine mixing in that environment... you're not in prison are you?:)

I continue to be impressed by the engineering that goes into the Blue Sky monitors. They are sealed designs with subwoofers as an integral part of the design, meaning that actual in-room performance can be set flat down to 20 Hz or lower. The website is www.abluesky.com

There is a dealer in Athens. The website is http://www.elina.gr/

The ProDesk model is in your price range, but actually, their smaller models would be more appropriate to your small monitoring space . However, only the ProDesk and larger models have the Vifa tweeter.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Cheers,

Otto

Tell me about it. I still dream about owning a pair of Genelecs...:D

On average you could probably get one speaker for the OP's budget (at least the models I favor).

Your 250 - 300 still trumps my 150 - 200 but budget is steadily growing...:D

Rockit

I just purchased what I thought was a pair of Rockit 5's but alas, it's 150 per monitor, what a dummy. Got it through Musician's Friend along with a free stand. Anyway, your budget seems to be bigger than mine...

Please do not take offense to this, but here is my advice...
You mentioned immediately in your initial post that you had a pretty large budget but didn't really know much at all about this stuff. In addition, because this is a home recording forum, I will assume this is for your own personal home studio. If you don't know much about recording it can be better to start off with equipment that's not so high-end, and learn how to use the tools you have.

That being said, you may be able to spend about half of that money on monitors, (being very happy with the result), and spend the other half on mics/pres/whatever. Now, if you just have tons of money all the time, and have lots of money to spend on everything, then go for it. Sky's the limit (and your pocket book). Just my .02.
