Right now I am using a regular balanced cable for my monitor speakers and thought why not go for a monster.....well I have a few questions, here they are ....
1. What cables are you guys using for your powered monitor speakers?
2. Does balanced/unbalanced cables make any difference?
3. Does XLR -> XLR (or) 1/4 to 1/4 make any difference?
3. What do you think about these monster cables, which one should I pick?

really depends what your doing. Monster is a very high quality, very expensive brand of cable. Some purists swear by using top of the line cables, other see it as a waste. I just recently upgraded my setup, and bought a couple of monster cables, and I must say, my whole monitoring system seems to be a lot quieter. I still have a couple of Hosa(another less expensive brand) cables in the setup though.
Make sure you buy balanced cables. If you have a decent sound card you probably have balanced 1/4 " outs. I don't know if your using a mixer or not for volume control, but if your just going from the soundcard to the powered monitors, I would use the xlr connection on the monitors, in which case you would want a pair of balanced cables - 1/4" on one end, xlr on the other(male connection is standard I think, but check. Post your exact setup before you buy so I can make sure I'm not steering you wrong here...

I am using a MOTU2408 and my monitors are connected to my Mackie VLZ Pro mixer. Like you said I am using a balanced Hosa cable too. Iam using Monster cables for all my inputs and I am sure they made a big difference when I upgraded, most of my output cables are pretty good, but psychologically worried about this Hosa cable that runs to my speakers. Want to make sure what is the appropriate cable for powered monitors before I buy. Suggestions please.
