Hm well thats interesting.
I will bring you info about the amp but i already know its a 830Euros worth amp.
I was testing BM6A vs BM6 + the amp.The test was done on Audioslave - Out of Exile CD.

The active model sounded much more linear. The seller told me its normal and the store was "pro" like.
The thing is if you want to beat BM6A with BM6 youd probably need really expensive amp not to mention the cables which are unimportant while using active monitors.
Im buying monitors for CD playback so i didnt test them on some mix or something similar.

A hafler P3000 puts you pretty close in sound to the active stuff. A bryston will make new monitors out of the passives:) Cables certainly do matter though. The problem with passive I guess is that you need two good sets of cables and not just one. As apoint of reference though, you can get a new set of BM6's and a used Bryston amp for less than than the cost of new BM6a's. Dynaudio does make pretty decent amps though. I just wanted to put my 2 cents in here for other readers so they don't think the passive Dynaudio stuff isn't worth the buy. It most certainly is. In the end though, all that really matters for your purchase is what YOU thought of the difference. If you like the active ones better, that is fine. You are the one that will be listening to them. Me personally, I like the passives better, as do many other people.

The amp on BM6 was Labgruppen ip900.I was comparing them on Presonus so i was able to switch between speakers during a track, so no placebo here.

The bm6 driver was moving pretty much producing less bass than bm6a at the same volume. The worst thing were guitar solos, they sounded so harsh on bm6 i couldnt stand it.

IMO its really hard to beat bm6a with bm6 if buying unused gear.

In general LabGruppen stuff is designed for live use. Whole different beast there with power consumption and levels etc....

mackie HR824's

i recently bought a pair of these babies.....all i want to say is after recording and mixing the increase of my final product was truly amazing. I do agree what i saw posted one time about the bass being a slight bit loose. they still crank out great mixes so im happy. :) P.S. the 250 watts of power ain't bad ether

what'd you have before these?

As per my reply in the 'Wharfe 8.2A or KRK RP6 (active)' thread, I will happily recommend the KRK V6 Series II.

Did a direct comparison between them, Mackie 624s, Dynaudio BM5As and Genelec 8030s and they rocked my world.

Don't know how much they are in US dollars, but they came in at just under £600 here.

I just noticed on the POLLS here the Behringer Truths are second to only the Yorkvilles YSM1P???

have they done it??!! they're actually coming around with some good stuff?!!

reminds me of Hyundai cars, in the 1980's everyone laughed (and justifiably so).....now they have the Big 3 shaking, losing market share big time, with the Original 10yr/100,000mile warranty....5year Bumper to Bumper $0 cost to owner. and 30% cheaper.

So the Behringer Truth 150watt+75watt ...very similar cab design as the Mackie...decent 1yr full warranty. and $300 pair.

2nd runner up ain't too shabby.

never mind..
re-reading this Poll thread 40% say get something else.
14% say B- are ok. several workmanship issue posts around?
a few that like them.
its the hype, man...have a pro speaker for $99...gearhead fantasy...

fk? i have $300 range monitors, whats the point of changing from a $300 set to another $300? i ask myself? why am i here??
could it be GEARLUST ADDICTION!!
is there a cure for this gearhead phenomena?

2002 to 2005...and going

i just bought another set of $379 monitors today!

damn this sht's funny....ColdAsh started this thing in 2002, posted twice (1st two posts in 2002) and never returned.

so we may never know if all this great info. helped Cold make the decision or landed 'em in the mental ward? :p

I got a pair of M-Audio BX8s a few months back
Which btw werent even on the poll (cause the werent out when it started)
So now you know ;)

Some of my friends in Sweden did dig Phonic P8A clearly (clearly) over the Beh. stuff, some 1-2 years from now, compared even to Genelecs but sure they couldn`t reproduce the last detail over 2-3 more expencive ones.
Adam (something)10 passives with a good amp. might be a good step towards prof. monitoring.

I use the Yamaha msp5...they are quite good for my needs and budget...
Bought them six months ago for 600 euro
Hear them first and then the choise is yours
i have chosen them between truths and krk

Anything mackie is good, anything roland is not good, i hate my roland nearfields, Switch at the back, DUM, hissing sound costant and irritating, me DUM for buying. Good keyboards roland, but that's it.

The JBL LSR's that just came out with the mic to eq your room are the best sounding monitors i have heard. The 8 inch ones.

just love my B' truth's....I got the passive (150watt) version ones....man...I went back and re-mixed everything.....with so much success!...luv'em!!
They are bloody big and heavy though....must be all that lead (Pb) in them!! LOL!
Superspit!

I've had my YSM1P's for several years. Never had a problem one with them. I just ordered the YSS1-2 sub woofer. Should have it next week. The -2 is because they made some kind of change to them from the original. I think someone said the size of the box, or something.
