Where do you guys position your moitors in your recording room? How far away from you? How high? Do you turn them on their sides? Upright? Thanx for any info.

You want your tweeters at the same level as your ears. The L monitor, the R monitor and the back of your head should form an equilateral triangle. Try to position the monitors so that the woofer is not exactly midway between the ceiling and floor, and you ears are not exactly between the front and back walls, or side walls.
EDIT: look in your monitor manual, but most speakers are designed to sound their best upright. If you do lay them down, put the tweeters on the outside and the woofers in the middle.

what monitors do you have? Most are designed to be upright, but some, like the newer ns-10s, are better laying down.

Mine are upright with the area between the woofer and tweeter at ear level. They are about three feet apart from each other and I am about three feet away facing the middle and we form a triangle. Each monitor is facing slightly inward towards my position. ;)

I think the woofer needs to be at ear level not the tweeters.

There are so many variables to consider, the main point to keep in mind is to place them so you can hear. Find that "sweet spot" where you can hear clearly and remember it. Trial and error is the only realistic answer.
