When mixing a live recording...

I'm looking for something to control my monitor mix with headphone outs.

I use to have a Presonus HP4 which did what I needed but it colored the sound too much,

I hear alot of people using the Behringer PowerPlay. Can it controls monitors, and will it color the sound or is it transparent?

Anything else I should look into?

I don't understand how too colored at the low end of the price scale is an issue. (This for a cue mix?) Not enough clean gain?

I just noticed the sound was very different when my monitors were directly connected to my layla vs. going through the Presonus.

The mix in the headphones is not the issue, but rather the mix going to the monitors.

Gotcha. Sorry I misunderstood.
I kept a Mackie for cue phones but went to the Central Station for the main path for the same reason.

Many people seem to like the Central Station. It has good useful features, but I did not care too much for the converters when I used it. Other people do seem to like them though. Have a loof at the SPL monitor controller. It looks pretty nice, but I have not used it yet. Great features, not too spendy, and SPL seems to always make pretty solid products.

FWIW (little :) ) I haven't payed much attention to the D/A in the Central Station. The pasive analog control direct from the RME gets it.
