monitor connectivity?

Im not sure where to post this but monitors are used in mixing mastering so here it goes. I got my behringer passive truth's and was expecting them to have 1/4 in. in's. nope . They have regular speaker cable hook up things in the back. so now im sitting looking at the back of my power amp and scratching my head. can anyone tell me the standard procedure here.
 
i thought this was a simple question that would have an answer in seconds. whats the deal. Please i seriously cant use my monitors untill i figure this out.
 
Right goes to right, left goes to left.

On each side, positive (+) goes to positive and negative (-) goes to negative.

It might be red to red / black to black.
 
Make leads that have 1/4" plugs at one end for plugging into your power amp, and just have the bare wire at the other end for connecting to the speakers. Or just the plugs off at one end of the leads you already have, strip the insulation from the ends of the wire and connect to the speakers. Simple. Just make sure you make sure you don't wire the speakers out of phase with each other - ie if you don't have much bass try swapping the wires around on one of your speakers.
 
but the input of the monitor is like plain stereo equipment raw wire. the output is 1/4 in.
 
Just cut the 1/4" plug off your speaker cable at the end that will go into the monitor. Whichever wire was going to the tip will go to the positive terminal on your monitor. The other wire goes in the negative terminal.
 
thank you. is there like a box i can getthat has raw wire outs so i dont have to ruin the speaker cable?
 
probably yes, radio shack could make you one if they don't have one.

however, 2 1/4" to 1/4" mono cables is only like a 10 dollar investment is it not? It'd save you a lot of time/money/energy to just cut the connector off of one end. You'll need these for as long as you have these monitors anyway...so might as well pretend they are permenant.
