Ive heard countless times that your monitoring chain and your room are 2 of the most important aspects to having success recording (other than your knowledge). Where i'm stuck is with monitors. Im going to be purchasing some near-field active monitors but im lost picking them out. I was close to going with some KRK RP6's but got talked out of them by a GC salesman because he said they aren't all that true. He suggested instead some JBL's which i heard from someone at a different store were no good either. I imagine these guys are just pushing me different directions because in their own personal taste in monitors and how they sound to their individual ears. I know it comes down to me choosing ones that sound good to me, which i totally understand. However, if in the future i plan to upgrade them, is it a waste of money to learn on a 400 dollar pair, only to have to re-learn to listen and get used to something in a higher range. Doesn't it make more sense to get a somewhat nice pair (maybe some ADAM A7's) and not have to worry about it so much down the line? Or will the differences in A7's compared to say the RP6's or something similar not even be too noticeable?
