i came across a couple of mxl v67 mogami microphones in a pawn shop for $20 a peice. is this the same company that makes mogami cables? didn't know they made microphones, any good?
I'll second that one for "mic bargain of the year", but I want to make a nomination for guitar bargain of the year.cominginsecond said:I nominate this for "mic bargain of the year." Anyone second that nomination?
I'll gladly buy the broken one for $25 plus shipping.sweetnubs said:well i hooked 'em both up and only one works. one had a dented grill and both are scratched up a little. the dented one actually works but the signal is distored. probably a damaged diaphragm. tried it out on only on acoustic guitar so far. sounded pretty good on the high end fingerpicking stuff. not as good as my 184's in xy, but not bad. probably would make a good distant mic. haven't tried it on vocals yet, am curious to see how they turn out. ran it through a vmp-2 and sytek pre's, liked it on the vmp-2. did a search on the board and found lots of postings about this mic, funny i never heard of it. oh well, $40 for a working mic and two 15' (?) xlr mogami cables. come to think of it they said i have seven days and get a full refund if they don't work. anyone heard of calrad 500c's? they look like old radio announcer mics, probably dynamic. they had a few there for $20 also.
